    Vypadok marketplace Flippa vcera, 28.2.2017

    Mozno ste zaregistrovali, mozno nie, ale vcera postihol aukcny server webov, domen, mobilnych aplikacii atd. vypadok AWS. Mozno by malo zmysel hovorit skor o vypadku sluzby AWS ako takej, pretoze tie dopady budu pri jej sucasnom rozsireni asi naozaj vazne, z mojho pohladu je vsak zaujimavejsie hovorit o vypadku Flippa. Hlavne preto, ze vypadok velmi vaznym sposobom zasiahol do primarneho poslania tohto serveru, co trochu poukazuje na vaznost dopadov vypadku AWS.

    Preco je to take zaujimave?
    Pretoze pokial mate magazin, blog, firemny web, forum, eshop... tak sice prichadzate o traffic v danom case, co sa priamo umerne podpisuje pod financne straty, ale po obnoveni po vypadku ste opat schopny bezat dalej. Ak vezmeme do uvahy ze niekolko hodinovy (co je extremne dlhy vypadok) tvori 1/240 - 1/120 celkoveho casu, pocas ktoreho je vas web online, tak aj keby slo o predajny primetime, stale je to, o co prichadzate len nejaka mala cast zisku v ramci vasho mesacneho prijmu.
    To s cim podla mna bojuju v pripade Flippa je ovela vacsi problem. Nejde o peniaze, ale o narusenie konzistencie dat a vytvaranie uzivatelskych strat. Pri oblubenosti aukcii na Flippa je velmi pravdepodobne ze v dotknutom case malo skoncit niekolko desiatok aukcii. V pripade uspesnych aukcii je trend taky, ze v poslednych xy minutach je zaznamenany najvacsi pocet prihodeni (tzv. bidwar) ako vysledok toho, ze ludia nechcu navysovat cenu pocas celeho trvania aukcie, pretoze to posuva aukciu pred zrazky novych potencialnych zaujemcov a tymto sa zacina tvorit tzv. snawball efekt.
    V case vypadku teda museli prist dotknuti uzivatelia o nemale mnozstvo prihodeni.

    Ako tuto situaciu riesit? Podla mna je najferovejsie pridat k povodnemu casu konca dotknutych aukcii 24 hodin. Nie je to vsak idealne riesenie (take totiz pravdepodobne neexistuje). Na zaklade skusenosti mozem povedat, ze uspesnost aukcii neovplyvnuje len cas konca v ramci dna, ale rovnako tak den v tyzdni. Napodobit rovnake podmienky uz preto nie je z mojho pohladu mozne. A preco to takto zlozito riesit a zaoberat sa malickostami ked ide zjavne len o detaily? To je z pohladu na marketplace ako celok mozno pravda, z pohladu uzivatelov to vsak vobec nemusi byt marginalny rozdiel. Ak aukcie na Flippa sledujete, urcite viete ze obcas niektore predmety v aukcii vyskocia na naozaj zaujimave sumy. Ak k tomu pridame fakt, ze ide o spoplatnenu sluzbu (platite za vystavenie + success fee + dalsie dostupne upgrady aukcie), tak ako prevadzkovatel nemate pravo tieto veci zanedbavat ani zlahcovat. Moj nazor.

    Hi everyone,Following on from my earlier email, the Flippa website is now back up!
    We are hopeful of no further issues at AWS, however we will continue to monitor the situation very closely for the next few hours.
    To minimize the impact on all of our users, we have extended all open auctions to account for the time lost while the site was down. Those auctions that were due to finish during the outage or soon after will be extended by a longer period (24 hours) to ensure that all bidders have a fair opportunity to participate.
    We are currently in the process of contacting directly all sellers and bidders associated with those auctions, to make sure they’re fully aware of these changes. We will also provide more details on what has happened and what we’ve done about it on our blog later today, so please check back there in a couple of hours if you want more on this.

    Taky jsem tam měl aukci na domenu livingfortrading.com a neúspěně. Ty tam prodáváš domeny?

    Predaval som tam davnejsie, ked bol organicky dosah aukcii podstatne zaujimavejsi. Po zavedeni "priplatkovej viditelnosti" to slo strasne dole vodou a v podstate prestalo davat zmysel predavat tam domeny v rozsahu $0 - $2000, pretoze si musel zaplatit neumerne vela za propagaciu listingu. Klamal by som vsak, keby som povedal ze som tam nepredaval aj potom. Vyuzival som acc. kamosa, ktory bol jeden z top supersellerov v tom case a neskor sa stal aj ich zamestnancom... takze upgrady free atd.
